I literally stared at this canvas I couldn't stand anymore. "Scratch" began as something else entirely—something that wasn't working to me, something that felt forced. Out of frustration, I grabbed my brushes and just started layering over it all.
Deep blues became my backdrop of uncertainty. Then came those bold red strokes—anger, maybe? Then the yellow came to brighten the day, like sudden clarity cutting through the chaos. White lines dancing between them all, connecting moments of thought.
What began simple then turned into frustration transformed when I finally let go of what this "should" be. Just doing instead of thinking. Just being instead of planning.
"Scratch" reminds me that sometimes our best creations come when we stop trying so hard—when we surrender to the process and trust our hands to say what our minds can't quite articulate.
This piece taught me that destruction can be a form of creation too.
